Linger

The world doesn't need him anymore.

It doesn't need his sword and it doesn't need his pen. The time for princes and knights and beautiful heroins to fight and sacrifice was over and things had become disgustingly, irritatingly normal. So much so that eventually he begins to wonder/hope/desperately pray that there might be just the tiniest hint of magic left in the world. Maybe just the smallest of scraps clinging to the edges of reality, gone unnoticed by everyone as they bask in their blessed normalcy. After a while, he digs out his best pen, buys a new jar of ink, and deposits a very startled little yellow duck on his desk, because he's never been one to just sit on an idea, ridiculous or not.

As anyone away from their craft for too long, he stares at the paper, pen ready but indecisive, afraid of getting it wrong the first time because perhaps such magic only comes with a single use. Words, however, never stay far from a good writer and they begin to fall just within his grasp and he reaches to capture as many as he can before they fade and are lost...

Down one page and across the next, sheet after sheet fill with elegant script and even if this doesn't achieve the preferred results, he'll still end up with a damned good story.

He places the final words, turns the last page to complete the stack, and closes his eyes, preparing himself for disappointment when the soft, half chatters of the napping feather pile beside him gives a very female, very human shriek.

He looks up, startled and hopeful, and then away, embarrassed and blushing.

“Fakir-kun! You couldn't have taken the time to write me some cloths?”

My parents are hilarious

So my mom does daycare and watches little kids and one of her little brats recently was running in the house after she already yelled at them not to and ran right into her china cabinet, knocking one of the shelves loose and breaking the glasses on it. And under it. Kids yelled at, parents told, and today, she and my brother are cleaning out the glass and putting away the unbroken stuff to put the christmas dishes up. Well, Matt asks what the crack in the bottom of the cabinet is, did Dominic do that too. And mom goes, No.

Your father did that.

He broke TWO shelves.

But at least he wasn't running in the house!

And we all just died laughing.

Yay, and here I thought I was going to end up not having written anything today at all.

Thanks to my friend Cody for giving me an excuse to write ^^

Done for one of his characters, Rybra, in a RP system he's putting together:

A hunt worthy of her kin,

She would kill

But for now,
she remembered shouts and screams
she remembered the smell of the dead and dying
she remembered the red fading sun glinting off makeshift armor
she remembered the symbols of the tribe painted on leather and skin
she remembered who had killed her father.

For now, she knew exactly who's blood would satisfy her hunger and she knew who would meet their death by her axes.

For now, it was simply a matter of finding.

Destiny with a capital-D is a completely different animal: a large, hungry animal that runs through the streets of history with a bounce in its step and a toothy grin on its face, dragging its owner behind it at the end of a very short leash. If you only took a casual look at someone out fulfilling his or her Destiny, you might think that the person was in control. But if you looked closer, you would notice a few things. Things like the blood on their knees and on their faces where their Destiny had dragged them face-first through gravel. Things like the look on their faces: half-proud, half-terrified.

Something Has to Give by AKA Jay!

Bit that's hilarious and awesome:

Sarah was humming happily as she wandered around the kitchen. Her father and stepmother watched her with the kind of wary caution normally reserved for small ticking packages wrapped in brown paper and people who start conversations at cocktail parties by saying things like: So, have you heard the Truth?

The fact that she was smiling wasn't a cause for alarm in itself; Sarah smiled a lot. She'd perfected a wide variety of smiling styles that ran the gamut from wistful pouts to wistful grins to mocking, although still wistful, smirks.

When Sarah smiled, people thought of princesses. They thought of Ophelia. They thought of old world masterpieces featuring sad beautiful women and lots and lots of fruit. This smile would make people think of those deranged grinning clown paintings done on black velvet. They could see her teeth.

And then there were her clothes. It wasn't just that she was wearing jeans. Jeans were normal for Sarah, at least since the school had officially forbidden her to wear authentic leather breeches. But the shirt above the jeans was... different. For starters, there was no lace on it.

Alright, so I'm throwing in with the nanowrimo thing for reals, even if I am getting a slow start, but instead of starting another project, or even trying to focus on one (since I'd be neglecting others), I'm going to simply be trying to up my words per day limit to meet the 50,000 word goal. So yeah, a little late, and a little bit of a slow start, but I have started!

Today: 691 words on the next pairing for the contest entry, Honda x Bakura <3

Tomorrow: get myself one of those nifty little word counter things!
